Mindful Media Shares 11 Travel Couples to Inspire Your Trips for 2021

Ontario, Canada, Sept. 22, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — To all of my fellow travelers, 2020 has been a bit of a globe-trotting bust. My condolences to the countless travel plans laid to rest due to these unprecedented times. As an eternal optimist, however, I have opted to look at the current situation like an extended layover. Perhaps a few of our connections have been canceled, but we’ve been given some time to re-fuel, gain a little rest, and gain a renewed appreciation for having the opportunity to travel, which is all too often taken for granted.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve also taken this time to gain some travel inspiration. We’ve been living vicariously through our phone screens, which have been dutifully transporting us into a time and space that extends beyond the confines of our homes. Amongst these virtual visits into the lives of others, we’ve handpicked 11

Spanish cuisine: what to expect from Spanish food when on holiday

Most of us have a favourite dish from Spain’s rich platter. Ben Gibson delves into the wonderfully-varied world of Spanish food and drink.

Eating in Spain is an institution. It reflects the lifestyle and goes hand-in-hand with their family values – it’s long been the Spanish way to enjoy communal dining with large groups of family and friends. The climate has also influenced their eating habits, not only the food they eat and produce, but also the nature of those long days, with meals often lingering into the early hours.

A variety of ingredients

Spain is a big country – more than twice the size of the UK – and the foods are every bit as varied as the contrasting landscapes. But there are typical ingredients. Cured ham, olives and olive oil, fresh fish and seafood, pulses, game, sausages, garlic and seasonal vegetables combine to make up the country’s diverse

Colorado Springs hotels continue better-than-expected recovery in August | Business

Colorado Springs hotels continue to recover faster from the COVID-19 pandemic than the rest of the state and much of the nation, but they still have a long road to return to full health, according to the latest numbers.

The local hotel occupancy rate rose for the fourth straight month in August to 70.9%, up from 66% in July and the second highest of any city in Colorado after Durango, according to the Rocky Mountain Lodging Report. While the occupancy rate is still well short of the 85.1% level reached in August 2019, the increase last month is notable because occupancy in local hotels typically peaks in June.

Colorado Springs among strongest U.S. hotel markets, survey says

The local occupancy rate was the nation’s second-highest behind McAllen-Brownsville, Texas, of the 165 cities tracked by hotel research firm STR. Nationwide, the company said hotel occupancy improved slightly in August to 48.6%

The first known direct commercial flight between Israel and Bahrain landed Wednesday in the island kingdom, just a week after it signed a deal alongside the United Arab Emirates to normalize relations.

Flight data showed an Israir Airlines Airbus A320 landed at Bahrain International Airport after a nearly three-hour flight from Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport. Hours later, Bahrain acknowledged the flight carried a delegation of Israeli officials.

“A working team from the state of Israel visited Manama today to discuss areas of co-operation between the two countries,” Bahrain said in a brief statement. “These talks come after the signing of the Declaration of Peace.”

COVID-19 prompts families to reconsider trips

Here are 6 tips to know before you book your flight during the COVID-19 pandemic.

USA TODAY

Like many families this year, the Rivers clan will be throwing out its normal holiday travel tradition to make sure the coronavirus doesn’t make an appearance at the Thanksgiving feast.

Gene Rivers of Tallahassee, Florida, says the normal routine of gathering the family at a ski resort northwest of Montreal both for Thanksgiving and mid-December to mid-January won’t work because  Canada and the U.S. have shut the border on both sides to non-essential travel.

Plan B – trying to draw his three grown-up kids to join him and his wife to New York City – isn’t practical either because it’s in one of the states imposing a two-week quarantine on those coming from places with high rates of COVID-19 infections. And even if that weren’t the case, their youngest son, a college

Avalon slates Christmas market cruises: Travel Weekly

Avalon Waterways plans to launch six Christmas market cruises at the end of the year, managing director Pam Hoffee said Tuesday.

The cruises will be offered to British and Canadian travelers: The company will offer two sailings each for the U.K. market on the Danube and Rhine and two for Canadian travelers on the Danube, beginning at the end of November, Hoffee said.

“We’re gearing up to operate, which we are really excited about,”  she said. “These have been selling for about a month now, and they are doing relatively well.”

While the Christmas market in Cologne, Germany, has announced it won’t operate this year because of the pandemic, most others are optimistic about opening this year, she said.

“The reality is these are outdoor markets, and outdoor markets have been happening all summer,” Hoffee said.

While there may be measures to control crowds, most are working to make sure
